This can visually make the depth of the pool appear shallower than it actually is. If the pool depth is 1.2 metres, the water level in the overflow pool will be higher than in the skimmer pool.

In contrast to a skimmer pool, the level in an overflow pool is always at the very edge, which means that the chosen depth is indeed fully utilised.
